Making a personal website
Screens from the web page, it’s still fairly WIP

I have continued my work on a personal web page and in general I have found that it is mildly tedious, yet rewarding.

One of the notable features of the site is that the background is a procedurally generated starfield with the nebulas being static, having the starfield properly scale with page resizing has proven to be a nightmare in of itself however. And I did briefly consider having it be animated like it’s a full on homage to the 90’s Starfield screensaver, but decided that would be too much on the eyes.

For one, the amount of methods for organizing a web page proves itself to be surprisingly overwhelming. Flex boxes, grids, blocks, content, ruby and so many more methods for organizing the format of a web page.

From a design standpoint it still leaves a lot to be desired, but the technical know how updating with current development trends has given me more insight into HTML 5/CSS/JS than if I simply used an online site builder. I will likely have to continue working through what information should be present and if I should concede I am at the Minimum Viable Product phase enough to make it a public domain despite lacking a functional arcade the link to the sprawlverse lore bible being all the galaxy section currently has. It is meant to be a living document unlike the portfolio PDFs and such, in some regards it is easier to update and communicates skills better than a PDF document is able to. But that freedom does have me worrying about things I never really did such as UX and site engagement, which even for a personal website still is relevant.

I do like the image gallery at work, at least:

If to stay with a flexbox gallery or go to a grid is another design decision I am likely to continue juggling along with if the theming going on is good enough. Or if I should use a dark purple background for the gallery as well.

I also did a couple integrations already, such as the use of the medium integration in order to stream this blog to the site. I may stream more of my activities to the site since why not have a portfolio you link to clients also be a command deck? What is the worst that could possibly occur?
